Jack The Lantern: War of the Soul
« Thread Started on May 14, 2010, 1:19pm »

Just picked up my copies last night. Am about 85% through reading the book and here are my impressions so far:

The pencils are very good throughout. There is a rare hand or something in a panel that looks a little off but that is just nitpicky-ness on my part. The inks range from 'great' to 'amongst the best I have seen'. Overall the art is very reminiscent of Mitch Byrd's stuff.

There are, once again typographical & grammatical errors in several spots; "their" instead of 'there', "form" instead of 'from' and a few others I think. Also, and this is something I would say of the previous JtL stories as well, the story is kind of hard to follow. Having read the previous stories I can sort of grasp most of it and recognize characters and such but I think a new reader would be all but lost. A very few bits of dialog are also questionable but that is about the extent of my quibbling. Overall it is a good book that DOES leave me wanting to see the next chapter in the Jack the Lantern saga.

$6 well spent!

Leave it to a religious Conservative to use a Seth McFarlane 'Family Guy' quote in his signature and to not realize that Seth McFarlane's whole purpose with Family Guy is to make fun of religious Convervatives.

Just heard from my comic shop guy and without prompting he commented about how great this book was, he said it was a quantum leap forward. Told me he was really picky about independents but really liked this book 8-)

Look forward to mine arriving tomorrow hopefully

Sorry for my late response on this thread. I was on a MUCH needed and long vacation, and when I got back I had more work to catch up on.
I’m stoked for those who posted their appreciations for the book. I had to purchase a copy while down in California, albeit a tough search. Christ! I checked with 7-different shops in the Orange County and LA area until I found a copy (Thank you Meltdown Comics on Sunset BLVD). It’s amazing how many stores hadn’t even heard of JACK the LANTERN. That said, orders in the “LA area” were not that high, so I’ve got my work cut out on the promotional side before I release anymore new books.
I was mostly content with the production, even though there were some problems in the printer’s production and shipping. This leads me to the variant, Victoria Con edition that was shipped by mistakenly into the general populace without my consent. I produced 75-copies for the show, and about 2/3rd’s of them were shipped along with the regular cover, so congratulations to the few who got them. Nice little treat, but still, Dumb-ass printers!

So, just let everyone know, none of these books were numbered and will not be numbered in the future. They’re only 75-unnumbered variant copies, so if someone tries to sell you a low numbered version—UH, UH—it was forged. And hit them for me while you’re at it.

And speaking of Victoria Con, I will be attending that show on June 13th, so maybe I’ll see some fans there. The one and only, Stephen Sadowski will also be attending the show along with some other fine guests. I’ll have what I’ve got left to sell of the variant copies, so if you’re there, get one. http://allcollectiblesshow.com/theallcollectabl.html

Godless (Tony)—if you or anyone else have any questions about the story, by all means, please send me an e-mail or ask here on this thread. I don’t want confuse anyone. In the past I’ve had some negative feedback regarding the summary I’ve inserted in the last few issues to catch up any new reader on the storyline, but I agree, War of the soul should’ve had one.
Anyway, please keep sending in the feedback.

Dammit! I can't make it to B.C., but I want one of those variant covers!
