I hated the originals and I seriously doubt THIS remake is going to be the one that breaks the trend of flat, soulless remakes of 80s horror movies. I predict this will include lots of gore just for the sake of gore and plenty of stupid one-liners from whomever has been hired to do the Robert Englund impersonation.

Yeah that's Jackie Earl Haley alright. Judging by the trailer it looks like this particular 're-imagining' is going to take the route of 'He didn't actually do it and was wrongly killed for the acts he didn't do so now he is a kind of justifiable killer'. If so then that just seals it for me. Also with Michael Bay attached this cannot be good.

Gotta agree with Orzechowski on this: I dug the first one, but the series lost me as it went on. It got progessively worse.
I MIGHT give this one a look if I can find a copy floating around the 'net when it comes out, but other than that...

The guy who plays Freddy is the same person who played Roscarch in Watchmen. He looks like a good choice because he was kinda of creepy in Watchmen. Plus new Freddy will actually look like a burned victim. www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00023277.htmlThe movie looks like they redid the some of the memorable scenes from the original. I hope they do something original and interesting. I also hope it's not like the "Friday 13th" Remake. That was complete shit. But I do love Rob Zombie's Halloween. For some reason, hardcore horror fans think the opposite. Go figure.

When I saw Rob Zombie's Halloween remake at the theater I said it was better than the original. When I saw it again on DVD...not so much. There is a lot to like about what Zombie was trying to do(Michael Meyers' back-story as a kid etc.) but there were also some rather stupid things and seeming confusion about what year various parts of the story were taking place in(you will ntoice various anachronisms throughout IIRC).
The sequel was just stupid for the most part.
It almost seems like the horror movie genre has run it's course. Since Scream(the first one) there has not been much in the way of anything new in horror movies(arguably the first SAW). I think that all of these remakes are kind of analogous to the idea og George Lucas remaking his Star Wars films or something.

The sequel was just stupid for the most part. The only reason I loved both the Rob Zombie films is because the original sequels to Halloween were terrible. I felt the second film had a little more bite and it was more about character, particularly Michael Meyer's sister emotional breakdown. The scene with Mike's Mom were creepy. I also liked how they portrayed Loomis as a book writer trying to cash in money from the murders. The last good horror film I watched was The Ring. And that was a remake. Also, Cloverfield was cool too. It was the "intelligent Godzilla" movie. You cared more about the characters than the spider monster. Scream was awesome too. I remember watching the film in the theater and the audience laughing to all the funny scenes. Saw was cool until Lionsgate thought they should make a Saw film every Halloween. For some reason, torture porn is the "in thing". Though, I have to admit Hostel 2 was funny but stupid. Especially the end.

If you like Audition, you'll like the other director's movie Itchi the Killer.

The only reason I loved both the Rob Zombie films is because the original sequels to Halloween were terrible. I kind of liked the original Halloween 2. Sure it was simplistic and did not do anything surprising or mind-blowing and, as with any slasher film from the70s & 80s you can find plenty of 'stupid'. I will give you that. It probably wasn't as bad as I said above. I kind of went into it expecting the worst and that probably skewed my perspective. Looking back on it there were several good things about it now that I think about it. These were some of the things I did NOT like though. The sudden almost complete change in Loomis' character was inconsistent I thought. I mean this guy in the first film gives his life to help Myers' sister escape but in the second film he is just a greedy bastard out to sell out anyone and everyone to make a buck?! Yeah I didn't like that one(either version) at all either. I also found Ichi the Killer to be monumentally stupid for my money Agreed. I thought Cloverfield was an almost perfect monster movie(though I don't put it in the "horror" genre). Yeah I liked all of the funny exploitation of horror film conventions as well(Seth Green constantly informing people of "the rules" of horror films, i.e. once a girl has sex she's dead etc.) but the thing I loved most was the genuine twist ending which even I did not see coming at the time.
