I've been reading the "Naked Justice" story in issues 5-10 of Raw Media Mags, written by Glen Hammonds and penciled by Pete Ayala(the artist who took over 'Grips' for Greater Mercury after Juan Muro left). I don't expect much from primarily sexual/pornographic comics in terms of story/writing as I recognize that the intent behind those is not to forge a literary masterpiece.
So I was pleasantly surprised that Naked Justice was, while certainly not David Quinn or Alan Moore caliber, not bad. Sure there are plenty of the "That only happens in porn movies" type occurrences but if you suspend disbelief to accept the 'what If?' premise where sex is used in the future much like the internet is used today(to achieve everything from purchasing legal and illegal products to research/investigation), it is not half bad.
The twist on the Medusa myth is nice also.
And the art is fucking amazing! I did not expect too much here either because while Ayala's art at Greater Mercury was good, overall it seemed to suffer from a rushed schedule and low production values(surprise surprise...). But here it is crisp, polished and clean with powerful layouts and decent composition.
Would love to see the book finished and packaged into a single GN/TPB. Whatever happened to Pete Ayala anyway?
Leave it to a religious Conservative to use a Seth McFarlane 'Family Guy' quote in his signature and to not realize that Seth McFarlane's whole purpose with Family Guy is to make fun of religious Convervatives.
