While I didnt sell as many books as the last con I attended, I did get my issue #6 of Ghost Rider signed by Teixera today and managed to haggle a dealer into selling me the North Star issue 1 of Faust for 30$ (how much is this worth really though? the guy started off at 100$??). I also foudn 6 issues of TMNT vol.1 I didnt own yet. You lose some, you win some I suppose.

Ebay has pretty well changed(many would say "Fucked up!") the values of comics in the last several years. As for the Northstar Faust #1, it depends on a few of things:
1)We talking the 'Premier' edition(w/ the all black cover and bleeding "Faust" logo)? That one can go anywhere from $50 - $100 if it is not slabbed and in at least NM condition(slabbed will drive the price up by at least 2-3 times the normal value). I got a 'Premier' ed. Faust #1 not too long ago in NM cond. for $35 IIRC by taking advantage of a 'Best Offer' auction.
2)If we are not talking the premier edition then a first printing Faust #1(Northstar) can be easily found now for less than $20 - $25. I have bought a few NM Faust #1's(I have like 7 or 8 of these for some reason) for less than $10 myself. 2nd - 5th printings can be had for less than the cover price.

I think the most important point in attending the comic cons, either as an artist or a fan, is just to have fun. The industry has become such a creature today that you can't really make a living off of it, nor make tons of money, unless you're working with Marvel or DC and there are all kinds of commercial tie ins and movie deals. I think a lot of comic book artists that make a lot of money are also working in other areas of illustration, such as video games, movies, books, commercials, etc., like Travis Charest, Jim Lee, etc.
As far as how much that Northstar Faust #1 is worth, Godless pretty much summed it up. I got one a couple of years ago at a Wizard World show for like $3. I was actually shocked that the guy sold it for so cheap. I think that dealer might have played you and saw your interest in it as a chance to make some extra cash.
And Godless, I wish I had known that you have so many back when I was looking for a copy! One comic shop owner told me that even though Faust #1 isn't worth that much, it's ironically very hard to find.

Yeah I did have fun but when you pay for a table, you want to make a bit of money at least. I barely broke even at this event while I sold a shitload of books at the small press event I attended last month. Lesson learned: stick to the small press events to sell small press books.
The Faust book I got is not the premiere edition, it's the one with the skyline and Faust holding a severed head. I looked it up on milehighcomics.com and they sell the near mint for 100$. It's in very good shape actually, and wouldnt be surprised if it really is a NM copy I got. The corners are still sharp even, although I havent actually flipped through it. Previously I only had the Rebel issue one (the best looking cover in my opinion). I got some other issues (8,9 and 11) for cover price as those werent in top condition. I also got the Avatar Faust books. Surprisingly, the TMNT books I got are also in excellent condition, so for 3$ each that was a good deal. I suppose no one cares about the Turtles so much anymore, which explains why I got them for so cheap. I wanted to buy The Walking Dead issues 1 and 2 (I have the complete series besides those) but that book is so popular I cant even afford those. Hell, they're worth more than Wolverine issues 1 and 10, which I do have. Back then I didnt know about their potential worth though.

Jainitai: Yeah I ended up with a bunch of Faust #1's. I think what happened was that I kept winning auctions for book lots that included books I needed and also a copy of Faust #1. Also there was at least a few occasions where I just picked up a copy(sometimes minutes before an auction closed or some such) for the cover price(or less) from a seller who I had already purchased other books from so the shipping was already paid for.
Raisinlove: I am reading ZCFH now(just got through the first issue) and will give my review soon(I am enjoying it so far).
As for Mile High Comics' price on Faust #1...don't believe what you might see at their web site. I am pretty sure they were one of the ebay sellers I got the book from for cover price not long ago on ebay That book is not worth anywhere NEAR $100...trust me. You can rather easily get the Premier edition for half of that(and sometimes even cheaper) so I don't see anyone selling the regular Northstar book for that much. Check ebay sometime if you don't believe me. Type "Tim Vigil" into the search thing and check the box that says "Display results in both title and description"(or something like that) right underneath the box.
