The perspective in this image is what makes it really "sing". I also love the energy of the dead guy, as it looks like he was actually trying to climb up the stairs to get away from Mr. Werewolf. Also Mr. Werewolf looks like he just looked up after killing this guy and was shocked to see Mona Lisa standing there. It's a split second captured in time where the werewolf is contemplating his next move and Mona Lisa is doing the same. All of the implied lines in the image really carry your eye through the whole picture plane, like where the werewolf is looking, the gun and arm, the sword, the leg and back up the cape. Great stuff.

PS - What's even more awesome is that Tim probably does all of this stuff without even consciously thinking about! That's the mark of a great artist, i.e. - one that uses the elements and principles of art masterfully without even being consciously aware of it.

I am aware of the composition in any pictures. lines of motion , lines of view, lines of focus, this picture has a triangle effect from right to left and a spiral motion from top left down and spiral in , objects fixed to hold to line in motion to focus on the werewolfs face...each picture sets up to a balance. and i'll add character , like the man had tried to crawl up. but positioned with in the spiral

I know you know how to make use of the elements and principles of art. I just meant that it's more of an intuitive thing. Most people will just look at a work of art and say, "That's bad ass!" without knowing the how's or why's of what makes it "bad ass". And I'm not saying that just saying Tim's work is "bad ass" is a bad thing. Sometimes it's just the best way to describe it! :^)

Tim's stomping all over Wrightson's territory and I dare say beyond in many pieces. This one is fucking great. I would have added more nipple poke-though , but other than that ... fantastic

that would have been some nipple....big fucker. hard to
but back to the art...as approaching any picture there are 2 basic fundamental ideas that it starts with...mood and motion..mood, how and what is felt from expression , pose and lighting. motion is to enhance the mood. finding a point of sight. perspective on the idea.angle..all pictures have these. its how you critic and correct as you go.

Tim, you are a true artist amongst comic book illustrators.
Ps - this piece would be awesome colored up by that girl who colored the Sinbuck and other illustration!

Tim got this back from Joe at SDCC and is working on it now. Notice the difference of perspective on Mona's face and the torch is being reworked.
