Tim has been a huge influence on me as an artist. I finally feel like my skills are to a point where I could do one of his pieces justice. I'm not really a colorist per se, more of a pencil and digital painting artist, but I think it turned out pretty good. Feel free to express your own thoughts or criticisms of it. Wow, that shit is hot! I know Tim usually prefers a more colorful palette, but I think these muted tones really work for the mood of this piece.

very nice. it almsot has a photo like look at the top at first glance. the roots on the wall reminds me of a H. R, Giger piece with the colors. two thumbs up!

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm glad you like it. jainitai- Tim was kind enough to comment on the piece at Devianart and the two things he pointed were the limited pallet and the darkness in some of the background which obscures some of his detail work. He said he would like to see some more color variety and pointed out certain areas where he's like to see it most. My general preference is to work with a more limited color pallet mostly because I find when I put too much color in a piece it becomes hard to hold together the overall color balance . I have wished many times to see more of Tim's work with a restrained color pallet, but maybe I went too far. I do think it helps push the horror/fantasy feel , but I also think I need more practice balancing a more complicated pallet. To that end I am going to try to find some time to do a second pass and address some of Tim's suggestions, so we'll see how it turns out.

I still thinks it looks really good, limited color pallet or not.
But I would like to see your deviant account to see what else you have been doing and see Tim's critique.

Finally got a chance to check out some of your other stuff zero. Your doing pretty good with those man. I like a lot of the stuff you have on there. The Invincible, the werewolf, and the sandman are just a few that stick out. Your good at both the bright and muted colors. The darker toned pieces seem to be more prevalent, and are looking awesome.

awesome! I think the muted colors and dark around the edges makes it look more creepy. I need to check out the b&w version though.
