Joe is gonna have to teach me, or begin teachin me, how to color in photoshop. He's advancing as rapidly in PS as people said I did as an inker.
The gradiations and variations in lighting and color are on point. And the coolest thing is it does NOT look like computer color. It looks like one of Joe's hand painted pieces. The textures are great, too.
Tim doesn't like how we all respond to art posting with "fuckin' cool!" or "it rocks!", he wants more of an opinion of what we like and don't like. I think we owe Tim and Joe that.
On the colors, some of the blues might be a little too solid. And the figure up front is not the most graceful and dynamic thing Tim has ever drawn, but it's still a very sweet piece of work. I'm wondering if it was inked before being colored?
The gargoyles could be more menacing, less like stone, crouched and realistic, then when Joe colored and laid texture they'd still look like stone but be more fierce.
Dat be my opinion. Other than that, it's fucking beautiful...

It is a nice piece, not the most graceful thing Tim has done, I can agree with that. It just looks like he was not trying to put to much detail into the pic. We have seen some incredibally detailed and labored over pieces that Tim has shown us. This just does not look like one.
It has noce composition, the first thing you see is the woman. Then your eyes flow around the rest of the work. The coloring is great. The gargoyles could look a little less like flesh, and it would seem more natural, with the church on the background. the clouds that are purple look a little to slanted to me. Could be going at less of an angle. It looks like they mess with the perspective of the piece. Maybe just my opinion. We do owe Tim more than cool, and nice work man. So thier is my two cents for now, for what its worth.

I can appreciate that, wanting to get extra eyes to point out strengths and weaknesses in a picture so he can focus on flaws and whatnot to improve your art/skill. I personally find it hard to dissect a picture like that(unless something is just THAT BAD) I take it in as a whole and either like it or I don't. Tim and Joe have had pieces I'd didn't care for (rare indeed) but to sit there and tell you why? Must be something wrong with me cause I'm just not able to do that.

yeah, there must be, because if you don't know why you like or dislike a piece, you're not seeing it. You'll never know.

yeah, there must be, because if you don't know why you like or dislike a piece, you're not seeing it. You'll never know. So you're never liked or disliked something and didn't know why? Well I know I would be considered a "right brained person" looking at the whole, "left brain people" are more logical able to look at the parts of things... www.funderstanding.com/right_left_brain.cfmI see where you are coming from but its just something I'm not able to do. I like most of Tim's work but to tear it down to "that line in the corner is to fat or the shape of that guys head is too round" just doesn't work for me. I like to step back, look at the picture, observing the good and the bad of it as a whole and then deciding if I like the piece or not. Out of respect to Tim's request, in the future I just won't bother responding to his work, if he doesn't want those kind of responses

Are you guys kidding? If you like it say so if not say so. If you want to respond with some constructive criticism great but if you want to just say "IT ROCKS" or "THAT FUCKING SUCKS YOU FUCKING DICKWEED...COCKKNOCKING, FUCKBALL WIND BAG!!!" Then I'm all good....

Joe Rocks.
I agree with Lunkermouth in the way I couldn't nitpick Tim...it seems like wishing Sarah Gellar was more thin or Jennifer Love Hewitt had bigger funbags. It's just allways nice.
I like UK's point that we should give more effort when responding. As a person who paints and draws, when someone looks at my piece for 5 seconds and says "that's cool", well that shit just fucking kills me. I'm all "dude, did you see that?' Did you notice this little part?" Fuckers. I guess I'm a fucker, but I'm a lazy fucker who types all day at work, and it's the last thing I want to do when I get home. I'll try harder in the future.

The dress is what does it for me in this piece. I have no idea how it came off so well, especially colored, but that is what attracts me to this piece.

Joe's nickname is "Meatballs"?? no, that's an inside joke among the Rebel Studios elite convention cognoscenti. . . . . . . . . Did I just use "cognoscenti" in a sentence? did I spell it right and, if so, how gay does that make me?
