This is the third time I have tried to post this. Last time I closed it down after the preview and before was so meting even more smart. I hope one day I don't have to type "this is the fourth time I've tried to post this. I write less every time... What do you guys think about image appropriation? Is this a parody, a satire or rip off? I am curious as to how this would be classified, I'm just not privy to that kind of info, maybe trying too hard to be too cool to care. Anyways, I've had a bit of merlot but I will try and explain how I come up with paintings....at least this one that I have titled: Flattering Harmony- A long term memory portrait of Arlene as Queen Solomon of Orangevale. It is tied into the film Gummo and it's movie poster/dvd yada yada...example: And now I will try to explain..... I saw Gummo and watched it until I laughed. It takes a few times, cause I don't think It is supposed to be funny. Then I moved to Orangevale CA, and it was just like Xenia OH to me, moving in from Hollywood. So I lived in OV for about three months, hating every second, thinking I was in Gummoville, and then I met Arlene. She was the coolest chick ever, and then I find out she was from OV, born and raised. I realized I had been judge mental, and her hair looked like Solomons, and bam....Gelato was born. I can't tell you how I came up with Gelato exactly, but her skin reminded me of vanilla bean. So, sometimes I think I am an "outsider" artist, but I have too many influences, and I am so not cool enuff to be lowbrow. Can someone label me, if not just for fun? btw: canvas is 24x24 oil over acrylic underpainting

Interesting piece. I like that there is a story behind it.

I like it. I wish you had a close up so we could see the the brush work and texture of the canvas.

I love this. It looks and is great, but as for a label for you I'm at a loss. I really expected Jai to come up with one! He's the boy-genius!
I was the same way with that movie... It took a few views for it to be funny. After living it, you appreciate it all the more.

Okay WULF, that's an easy request. Except for extreme detail...I got to fire up the nikon one and toss this Canon. It's like a blur machine.

That really is a good painting man. I can never seem to get the brush stokes to do anything that I want, so anyone who can paint like that gets some serious respect.
