They should place that cover on the front of PREVIEWS magazine! That's amazing piece of work Tim! You should definitely use it!

well thinking bout the evoution of my work made me remember the critisim that I had in the early days...!) to many lines 2) to grey. not enough black. I really had to look at what was being said technically about my dawing and I tink that that thought shows . Also I am always thinking abot maturity of line and image. I think fraetta does it best. The people and the way they move is mature and grown up. I think my work always had a childness to it .I want people to be older and my line to be shown as experienced ad matured. Yet I don't know if I am at a peek.I know that I excelled when I was accepted in the comic field. I grew with confidence. But now I am ignored and nothing I do matters that much. So I have to rely on my personal drive and ambition in each picture. I think What I could be if I was looked at and excepted in the community. I am lacking confidence to a point.

Well yeah, it really is a shame that your work is over-looked or that you've garnered the stigmata of being an illustrator of "adult books" or "porn" or whatever. What's even more ironic is that as the comic book industry started being recognized as not just for kids anymore, these new publishers started popping up, like Vertigo, etc. Of course there's always been comic books for "mature audiences", but the popularity of such books wasn't there back in the early 90's when Faust first came out. So it just doesn't make sense to me how adult-themed comic books have gained more respect and recognition, yet you (Tim) are still seen as taboo. Maybe you pushed the envelope too far? Maybe the big publisher fear that they'll be criticized for letting an illustrator of "porn" pencil one of their flagship titles? Who knows.
It must be difficult though having that motivation to constantly push yourself and to improve when it feels like no one else cares or is noticing the hard work you're doing. That's sometimes difficult for me to get the motivation to draw my own book (Eternal Day), because for the same reason it just feels like no one will really care or even notice it. At that point it really has to be a passion just to do it for one's self and not for any other reason, like recognition by peers, fame, money, etc.
I must say though that I don't see why you (Tim) should lack any confidence in your work. Just compare it with 80% of what's being put out there in the comic book industry today and your confidence in your abilities will skyrocket!
And I really think you should share your Batman pages with Bob Shreck (of course not the "adult" parts of it!). Or wait...didn't you tell me that you did and he just wrote back "cool" or something like that? Anyway, regardless I would keep showing stuff to DC and Marvel. There's no reason why your work shouldn't gain that kind of exposure and popularity. And I'm not just saying this because I'm a fan. Your work speaks for itself.

I know it must be hard to be in an industry that shows you no respect. But personally Tim your art work has influenced me in so many ways. When someone uses the word artist or creativity you are the first person I think of. I know your confidence may sway from time to time. But you have made a lifelong fan, and someone that will always give you the respect you deserve in the artistic world. Thanks you for every line you have drawn. Thomas Ervay

Let me explain. confidence is a major key to evolution in any field. It is hard to find inner strenght when your being knocked down..but like it is said ...it is not how many times you get knocked down but how many times you get up. I also have to take all the blam for my situation. I don't do enough to get myself out there. The art doesn't speak for itself. But I will always try to push myself to be better . Hopefully I am not just saying that to please myself..the emotional quality of line and image is my ambition...
when I close my eyes and imagine ,there is nothing that frightens me and nothing I am unwilling to draw

Rd is right, this has got to be the greatest drawing of Faust i've seen in years. Your artwork is amazing and i am constatly surprised by the evolution in line work, and use of blacks. I push your books on everyone I know if they even mention, Wood, Frazetta, Williamson, or the like. I will stop at no end to see you get the respect you deserve Tim.

I was disappointed there wasn't a big ol' Man-Bat Cock on the 2nd Sabrina piece, much less the promised Pussy in the Orb. You better believe I'll be inking the reflection of Her vag in that bottom right Gem (the shapes are already there to work with)!
