Off the top of my head in no particular order, past and currrent forum members who I know would be down (and who aren't broke ass scrubs ): me gotso PD RD Irchooker Mr. Faust Northman Glen from rawcomics Undies DAL Tomokato Brian Page DOOOOM Grimm Argotakar shit, that's $5600 right there, biatch! and I know I'm forgetting several of you, I apologize but you know who you are. And there are several lurkers and several fans who just dont fuck with the internet. I didn't include Jai because he is a broke ass scrub. we'd have to give him a hardship rate to get him a copy. Jai can make that no money no problem being pimped out by gots0 on the Jersey shore. Jai just needs a pair of roller skates and short shorts and he can give hand jobs all day long.

I'd suck a few pee-pee's to see a hardcover Tim Vigil art book, but I have to wonder: even with the money would there really be any motivation for Tim to put it together?? He'd basically be doing it for the handful of us diehard fans and maybe it's just not something he'd be willing to put the time and energy into creating.

I'd suck a few pee-pee's to see a hardcover Tim Vigil art book, but I have to wonder: even with the money would there really be any motivation for Tim to put it together?? He'd basically be doing it for the handful of us diehard fans and maybe it's just not something he'd be willing to put the time and energy into creating. let's be clear up front. Tim would NOT do it. There would have to be a publisher, even if it's us. Tim has to make a living, and if you've never scrambled to make a living based on art, it's nearly impossible to imagine how hard and terrifying it is. Tim has to work, do cons, commissions, whatever. You're right, without a significant monetary incentive, Tim probably couldn't tackle this kind of an undertaking. I just got a full size document scanner {Thanks, Argo! } and would be willing to scan everything on my own time. I'm gonna scan my whole collection asap anyway. This is probably a thing wherein each of us would have to do what they can in addition to coming up with the money. Tim would need to get a cut of it, that's half the reason for my hypothetical astronomical price of $350. this is all prolly a pipedream because of just this kind of logistical nightmare. For Tim to do it under his official Rebel Studios imprint, he'd have to know he could sell enough of them in the long run to make it somewhat profitable. If I woke up tomorrow with 20k under my pillow, I know enough graphic design and pre-press people that I could hire to put the thing together and get it on a disc to send to a printer, then have it published. Any of us could do it under those circumstances. That's the thing, though. We'd have to know going into it that this book is about ART and SOUL, not fame or money, and in the world we live in where we all work our asses off to get where we need to be, few people have the resources to do such a thing. but it dont hurt ta dream... and I still believe something could be put together. I'm still awed by Glen's accomplishment with the Vigil Saga book. I received my copy yesterday and have been browseing it. It's staggering. And what Glen did has inspired me so that part of me would like to see a totally fan-produced art book wherein it was done and Tim could just sit back and chill and go, "that was sum cool shit my people did." Which is one reason why I am a fan of Ivo's much-reviled sketchbooks. This is a guy who came to Tim with a proposal, willing to do all the legwork and printing and give Tim half of something. I don't and will never begrudge ivo any of the money he makes off those books for that simple reason. Tim doesn't even have to move and those books are going to come out and a cut of each is going right back to Vig. Shit, it's like havin' ho's on the street! Tim's pimpin'.

Well for the kind of investment you're talking about (of time, money and energy) this art book would have to be off the hizzle. I'm talk'in like the ultimate collection of Tim Vigil-ness, perhaps even spanning his entire artistic career. There would have to be different sections, like sketches, ink work, paintings, etc. I don't even think anyone here would have access to the Tim Vigil archives like that. It probably all is a pipedream, but it's a good dream to have.

I could do that for the price of a plane ticket and some petty cash. I can't imagine Tim not letting me at his Vault O' Art. I'd need an ambulance to come revive my ass after seeing that much Vigil original art.

I really want to set up an online art show/gallery of Vigil stuff. I will talk to Tim and get his permission at Megacon. If he says ok, at LEAST my personal collection will go up, plus various pieces I've begged copies of and portfolio plates. It'll be free -totally free- and now that I have a full size scanner to get big, beautiful high-rez scans of everything it would be great. While the gallery is still small I'll host the pics on my site and put the images up here in the Rebel Art Gallery and it can be a part of what we have here. I'll link to it from my homepage and my myspace site. As the thing grows I might set up a website just for the gallery.
I just want it to be totally free and for people to not have to jump through hoops to see it.
Hell, an online version might be the only way to do the art book. Make it "virtual".
I have been thinking a lot about Tim and his art since Vigil Saga got to me and after reading the posts by Tim and others in the other new Faust gallery thread here. Last night I said "fuck it, I'm going to buy the rebelstudios.com domain name and just sit on it until some day when Tim wants to do something with it." I just didn't want some douchebag to get it for some shitty business or crap not related to Tim, Joe, David Q and Dave B, et al
I was proud to find when I started looking into it that our very own oo-RAH! U.S. Marine by tha name of Undies owns that domain name!! Way to go, bro! So that's a load offa my mind and something else I dont have to fuck with and the rebel domain is in the safe hands of ONE OF US.

I'm looking forward to your online gallery, T. I also like your idea to personally fly out to CA to compile the material from Tim's archives. Of course it would entail more than scanning, since most of his paintings probably couldn't be scanned (obviously), so you'd have to sharpen up your photo-taking skills to get nice images of the paintings. It'd be a lot of work to get the lighting right, etc. I don't know. There's just a lot of variables and details to a project of this proportion.
Has anyone seen the Frank Cho sketchbook called "Women"? It's published by Image. Really nice book. I envision the quality, size, etc. for the Tim Vigil book. I wonder how much it cost to produce. All of the insides are BW though and I imagine the Vigil book would need some color in it.

Did you get timvigil.com, too? One of us needs to. If you find out somebody already owns it, try to find out what they want for it and get with me, I'll help fund the thing. We need to make it one of those "meta" command pages that when someone types it in they are immediately transferred to your RebelStudios.com front page. Wow, I just glanced at this. This was my first time hearing about it. You guys are already doing a great job of almost exactly what I had in mind. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I'm willing. I'll probably make up some flyers to hand out at shows this year that have the URL for this board on them and maybe the URL for you and Glen's Gallery? We can talk more about this when i'm coherent, it's 4am here right now. I really like what you've done. And i've really got an inspiration all up on me to try to rise awareness of Tim and Joe's existence in the comic industry AND the tattoo and underground music scenes this year. I'm going to get some flyers or cards of some kind made up. shit, i need some sleep right now. let us know how the con went, UW.

ATTN: Underworld.
one mo' thing before i pass out this morning. You guys have a section in your gallery for Portfolios/Prints/Posters but nothing is there yet. Is it your intention to scan all the portfolio plates and prints and put them up? Do you have the Vigil's ok on that yet? I ask because that's something I can and will definitely help you put togther if you're open to some UK help.

Wee Willy owns TV.com? How could I have guessed? The little turd has a history of doing shit like that. Nothing you can do to him either cuz he'll bitch up and call a lawyer with the quickness. Willy don't own the rights to SHIT. He's the worst profiteer in comics. Yeah I said it. That sux.

if tony were to come out here to scan I would have him wear a thong , nylons and cute bunny house shoes,,, that's a visual that would burn the eyes right outta The Godfather of Horror's head. You and joe would be curled up in fetal positions sucking your thumbs. every day i'm happy that the shower steams up the mirrors before i get out...
