Cadre do you want me to pad you next time I see you? I will do it, promise.
I am finally getting to the Con Report! I was planning on having this on a page on a website. But my dumb ass self accidentally deleted the files and wanted to vomit from the realization of how many pictures and gifs I lost. And no, they are not in my recycle bin. Luckily I had wrote the report out in Word and saved it. So I am uploading these pictures into a photo album and simply posting this and the pics on the different boards and blogs I am on. So that was Jain can see the pics! Haha! Here is the link with the photos.
pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/creepypippy13/my_photos And my apologies for the week delay. But here is my report and the pictures to go with them.
Well we started off with Friday night going to the House of Blues in Kissimmee to see Flogging Molly. Ran into Renne and Eric, Kat, and several of Chad’s friends. Overall the show was freaking fantastic! I have had FM songs in my head for days now. There was a band there that played second on the list from Utah that I fell in love with as well called Scotch Greens, they are fun if you like a little twang in your tunes. I’ll skip through the long story of the ignorant f*cks that we call the neo-nazi’s that were there and ruined a perfectly good spot we had to watch the show. Yes that is right, the weekend of fun was tainted everywhere we went with the neo-nazi’s that decided to have a rally in downtown Orlando the same weekend. I did manage to get myself a cute little FM shirt, which I was pleased with. Now onto the Con!…
Let’s see, we got to Megacon at about 11:30. I wasn’t too big on the special guests there as in the stars, but then I never really am. I mainly go to see the artists and what goodies they have. My main money plan…to spend most of what I had at Tim Vigil’s both, which I did successfully. But first I had a mission. My friend April sent me some cash to buy some stuff off of the artist that draws The Devil’s Panties. Luckily we found her in the beginning of the Con. Let me tell you something…that chick is a HOOT! She is so fun to talk to. There are pictures of her and her boots in the photo files.
I ran into one of my old gaming buddies, Dino, in the blue. He was working the Con running errands like a mad man. And then I ran into my comic book shop and fellow Tarot lover, Scott. Which reminds me, I need to go by his shop soon here!
After I unloaded my wallet at Vigil’s booth and had the pleasure of meeting UK we went on our way to find the Vicious Circle booth. In the pics you will see Bukshot and his lovely woman, (and my favorite of the people he loves) Jenn, and then of course myself with them. Then we have my man, Chad, and myself. Next is another one of my favorite O-Town people Patrick, and then it is him with some guy he stopped. And of course, spreading the love with the fabulous UK! He is a really cool guy and I am glad I got to meet him. How are your legs working now UK? Hehe.
Here is where we ran into some of my buddies that have a Cosplay club called the Hero’s Alliance. They not only dress like their favorite superheroes, but they also do charity work as superheroes as well. And this all happened while we were talking to Chad’s friend dressed as Link. Photo Ops abound.
Then we have some more old gaming buddies, Michael and Jim who had a booth with a comic called Oleander Kingdom. And another cool person you cannot miss is another artist that had a booth who I know as Josh Comics.
Now here is some of my favorite stuff of the weekend. I saw gots0 down the aisle at the Vigil booth. So I told Chad to get the camera ready and take a picture of the full back, then get a full frontal. I went up and made my move, a big warm hug (which I would have done regardless) and I planted my weapon. He took the picture of the back. But I got distracted by the lovely Emily and got a shot with her. Notice the pad on his back in the background of Emily’s picture. Then I got the full front shot. The whole time, chatting away. I saw gots0’s brother and he came our way. Now we saw him look at his back. We know he saw the pad. UK and Vigil knew I was planning this, but somehow they did not notice this obvious white object on his back. We chatted some, then I was on my way, but not before I made sure my target was complete. I go to hug gots0 good-bye and rub the pad in deeper to his back as I point at it keeping eye contact with his brother. His brother saw it, and from the reports... never… said…a…word. Bravo!
We then went back over to the Vicious Circle booth and got some pictures of the guys. Some of these guys are proudly wearing my special pads. We have Holland and Shawn, both these guys are the creators of Lawn Enforcement. I believe that pretty lady behind Shawn is his girlfriend if I am guessing right. And of course Bukshot and Jenn, because they are some of my favorite people.
While we were still at their booth some more of my buddies from the Heroes Alliance showed up. I wish we would have caught TJ’s eyes closed though!
After the padding fun we headed back up to the front to find Renne and family. Their son is 15 and is a hoot! He is such a cool and fun kid to hang out with. We ended up going to dinner with them after the Con and I asked myself why I have not hung out with them more so because this family is a freaking blast to hang out with. Guys… I think the Ren Fest and Dino World are in order!
I also ran into Z a few times selling little things for the anime fans. Now isn’t she just adorable?! Z I hope you sold out of your goodies and made enough money to blow it all at the Con!
There is a cluster of people known as Lenore, Robb and I think his name was Mike? These are members of a board that we all post on for years (the same board that I met Renne and Eric on). And once again I ask myself why I never hung out with them because they are fun to be around and have great conversations as well! They also were at the dinner that night. Guys, I would love to do that again, please let me know when you plan any Tampa trips.
Before we met up with the crew for dinner we had to make our way back to the car, which was “far but not far”. Being I am a hiking gal I estimated that it was about a mile to a mile and a half away from the convention center. Here is a picture of one part of our journey walking back to the car, or rather… limping back to the car. We happened to be walking through another convention center where they were having some kind of boat fishing thing going on. Here is a huge inflated bass and truck. Now why did we not go here instead? ~sigh~
Sunday I went back to the Con and I hoped all over the place. So I ran into Bubba from the comic book shop. He’s a fun guy indeed! Then of course I stalked John Schneider to sneak a picture for Nicci. I tried to get his butt as well, however that shot kept evading me. Let me tell you something, this man is HOT! Holy crap I never thought I would say that. And the kick ass thing about him is that I saw him through out the Con the entire weekend talking to people. He is a super nice guy from what I gather and from the reports of other encounters. It is always nice to hear that fame has not got to a stars head.
And I finally found my Con buddy Todd. Every year and every Con I have seen him at his takes hundreds of photos of people dressed up. He’s a real cool guy and I am glad I have got to meet him through the years. There are two pictures up because somehow we always manage to have one of us with our eyes closed. So two for good measure and they both turned out great!
And my last group of pictures is all padding adventures. The first two victims was me showing Renne my new padding technique that Chad taught me. It was so unexpected that she was on the ground laughing, which of course had me roaring with laughter as well. Now I tried this in the back of the Con and it did not work out so well, so I resorted back to the old technique, old faithful. The pad on the ground was still there from Saturday when the Vicious Circle guys played with it. Oh and that kid with the hat, he was one of the many kids that had crappy signs on him. His said something about needing love. I told him I would give him loving like he has never had before but he had to go with the flow, no pun intended. He got it alright! And he got a good chuckle and gave me a thumbs upo about it too. And the last picture was me showing Mandy my new technique on Cannonball, and then we posed for a picture shot.
