Supposedly the intro to the track "Vicarious." It does sound like Maynard a bit, and from what I've read about the new album they did say they were going to use effects on his voice. Real? media.putfile.com/Vicarious-introThat website said I had to click on a pop-up to "run an Active X control". I "X'd" it out instead of clicking "Ok", but then the music file played anyway. I better not get no spam or viruses! Anyway, as far as the clip itself, who the fcuk knows. Then run a virus scan if you're worried, foolio! Alot of people on some TOOL forums are saying "this is obviously fake" too, but they don't specify why they think that. I don't know, it sounds like Maynard's voice to me. We'll see.

Heh, I have the entire album now. Haven't heard the whole thing yet, but I heard the first 5 songs on the way home from work. I like it alot. It's definitely NOT "Lateralus II", so for those worried about that you can rest easy if that concerns you. Just heard "The Pot." Holy shit! I'm gonna listen to more of the album right now.

OK, I just finished hearing the entire new album. I like it alot! There are some great moments on it where they really rip it up. But just like Ænima and Lateralus, don't expect this new album to just be balls out rock like you're throwing on an early AC/DC album. There are definitely times when the album is subdued, and there are alot of quiet hypnotic beats and rhythms....TOOL's standard "psychedelia" if you will. So keep that in mind when listening. TOOL is still "the thinking man's" rock band (and this album should definitely make pot and acid heads very happy). There are alot of references here to Lateralus' sound, and at times you can recognize tones and rhythms from previous albums (at one point I think "Rosetta Stoned" uses a rhythm from Ænima's "H", although it's faster). And everyone who's heard "Vicarious" should have recognized the hints of Lateralus' "Schism." But again, it's definitely not on par with Lateralus as far as the subdued sound. Maynard's singing here is more akin to A Perfect Circle than previous TOOL albums (and the first verses of "The Pot" will probably have you going "WTF?" But after the opening, he changes a bit and as the song progresses, it blends in well). "The Pot" is one of the best songs on the new disc. TOOL fans should really dig it, and I know I will be buying the album come May 2nd. Rawk.
