I was gonna ask everybody to list their music collection, guilty pleasures and all. I thought it would be enlightening and fun. Then I thought about the people who'd be involved {us} and realized that it would be an impossible task. I bet every one of us has 1000+. I know I do.
I took a look at Dog's dvd list. There were some big surprises. Overall, though, we got a lot in common.
One movie was missing that I felt 100% sure would be there: Good Will Hunting. I don't know anybody who comes from a street background who doesn't dig that movie. I know a few who won't admit it, though. What up, Dog?
I expected to see Rounders on Dog's list, too.
A flick I KNOW will be on his list and mine as soon as it's realeased on dvd, if it ever is: Rolling Thunder with William Devane and Tommy Lee Jones. Directed by Paul Schrader. It's a crime that this movie has been forgotten. It's one of the realist payback films ever. And that is La Fuckin Verdad.
Anyway, I have 70 dvds in common with Dog.
dvd's that I knew he would have before I ever looked:
American Me Thief Heat
if you haven't seen tose flicks, you ain't seen shit.

Hmm, I can't say I'm a big fan of Matt Damon's work (although there are a couple of his movies in my collection), so I've never seen Good Will Hunting or Rounders. And the fact that Robin Williams is in Good Will Hunting as well wasn't helping matters any. Don't really care for him at all. I've never even seen Good Morning Vietnam, which was supposedly one of his better films. Rolling Thunder is a great flick. Like I've said before, Tommy Lee Jones was the kind of homie in that movie you need to back your shit up. William Devane: "I've found them. I've found the men." TLJ: "Just let me get my gear." Good flicks. I just saw Thief again about 2 months ago. James Caan was bad ass in that one. I even have the ending theme from it. It's called "Confrontation." Cool song.

"I am the last guy in the world you want to fuck with."
Hell yeah, he was a bad motherfucker in Thief. To say the above line and actually have it work. And then proved that he WAS the last guy they wanted to fuck with. It was beautiful. Michael Mann is easily my favorite writer/director at the moment. I just read his screenplays for Heat and Thief and they are sweet. He writes in more detail than most screenplays, gives background and emotion.

You've been collecting quite a bit lately. Last time we talked about our DVD collections I think you said you were around 450 or so. I think I'm just about hitting the 600 mark, somewhere around there.

I buy probably 5 books for every dvd I buy. Maybe more. I doubt I have more than 80-90 tops and most are those I share in common with Red Dog. My books? You guys have seen that picture and that's only 2/3 of them. Considering cds, vinyl and my old punk and hardcore tape deck from the eighties I have at least 1500 pieces of music.

We worked something out, and I took it. I wound up paying about $4 a dvd. Some really great two and three disc sets. It was a great deal.

I just add them one at a time, just bought American History X.
