I'm surprised this movie hasn't come up for discussion. I went to see it last night. Was pretty good. Anyone else see it? I'd like to discuss the finer points of the film, plus I have some questions. Anyone?

But yup, I agree. The character looks like a flamenco dancer wanna-be Zorro. Think I'll wait for the DVD myself.

Oh right...it's a movie that actually makes you think about philosophical topics...why would I think that you guys would be interested in it! You didn't want to see it because they guy's mask was gay and because he looks like Zorro as a flamenco dancer? As Nell Carter would say: give me a break! It was a decent flick with some deep stuff going on. Plus there was a nice scene with Natalie Portman in a sexy outfit. ;D (Of course I know RD hates Portman).

I am amazed it hasn't been banned for totally mirroring 9/11 conspiracy theory. What did you think, Jai?

You can totally see from the previews that it's a film that's deep and rich in it's philisophical storyline. How could we have been so blind? Cornhole!

What "deep" stuff are you talking about? The movie/story was lame. A very WEAK 1984...

Yeah...it actually wasn't all that great. I just love Natalie Portman. This is for LordWitchFog (no one else read it *spoilers!*): You know how V kidnapped Evey and threw her in that cell in his hideout? Well how did he cut her hair without her seeing his face?? Who was the guy that cut her hair? And what was with that whole scene where V emerges from the flames of that labratory/concentration camp screaming with his arms raised? How did he survive the explosion and fire? And what was the whole thing about the vaccine? Was it that he was the only one who survived the virus? I didn't understand that whole flashback scene. And what was it that Evey learned or realized or found out about herself when V released her from that cell?? I didn't understand that scene where she's out on the roof and says "God is in the rain" and she's crying and has her arms raised just like when V emerged from the flames. What was it that she realized?? That the truth is worth dying for? That freedom is worth dying for? I didn't think it was all that bad of a film, but I think my wife summed it up when she said it was more of a rental than a going-to-the-theater kind of movie.

Well, Sir I never read the comics but alwyas meant to long before this was to be a movie. So based on the movie, when V free's her since she no longer cares if she lives or dies he can let her go. At that point she will never reveal who or where V is. I guess the idea being that if you have been that close to death and lived you will have no fear of death.
I had high hopes for the movie and they where not meet. They could have had a better story and added more to the charaters but they didn't. The film style was nice but to much wanna be Matrix. Also, the filiming was kind of flat and the peole where very much one dimentional. V was the only thing in the move where a shit.

I understood WHY he let her go (because she wouldn't reveal who he is/was) and because she no longer had a fear of death. BUT my question is, when she started freaking out and crying, he kept saying something like, "Yes, yes, you've found something in yourself haven't you?" He kept implying that she had learned something or discovered something while being locked away in that cell. She had some sort of revelation. What was it?
And I don't think it was trying to be too much like the Matrix. I mean, there were no robots or anything SciFi. I'd like to read the book to see how much they deviated from it and to see if there are more insights about the scenes I was questioning.

She realizes that she has penis envoy and wants to be called the "Gay Blade"!
The style of shooting was very Matrix not what was photographed. The film stock was to clear making it seem unreal to me. I would have perfered that is have a more personal feel to it.
