I went to see the living legend himself, Pink Floyd[/b]'s Mr. David Gilmour at the Oakland Paramount Sunday night. Unbelievebly good show, and it was great that he had Rick Wright on keyboards as well. That's half of Pink Floyd[/b] right there!
Gilmour was in top form and it went above and beyond my expectations for such a small venue. The sound was fantastic (the drum bass was so deep and powerful I had to pull my left nut out of my sock after the show) and in the second half when he played Pink Floyd[/b] tracks, they did some really nice laser and light effects. Like I said, I wasn't expecting it to be that good for such a small place (roughly 3000 seats), but it was pretty damn awesome.
He opened up the show with:
Breathe
Time
Breathe Reprise
Then he proceeded to play his entire new album, "On An Island" in sequence:
Castellorizon
On An Island
The Blue
Take A Breath
Red Sky At Night
This Heaven
Then I Close My Eyes
Smile
A Pocketful of Stones
Where We Start
After a brief intermission:
Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V)
Wots....Uh The Deal
Dominoes (Syd Barrett track)
Coming Back To Life
High Hopes
Echoes (the entire 20+min song!)
Wish You Were Here
Comfortably Numb
Here's a couple of crappy phone camera shots I managed to grab. The pics obviously don't do the show any justice. It doesn't look like it, but I was very close to the stage. I had great seats.
I would find it really hard to believe that any of you here would not have dug that show. David Gilmour is one of the greatest guitar players that ever lived, and he kicked serious ass that night. A life experience for me.
