Well, I read it last night and thought it was a pile of shit! PSYCHE!!! Seriously, I could see that #12 and #13 were one issue really. The art was lovely (as usual) and the dialogue was the usual quasi-philosophical mumblings that only David Quinn can do, but it felt like half an issue! I'm expecting the same with #14 and #15. Will it really take two issues for John to kick M's arse? Oh, and I noticed the ad for the fourth Communion Edition on the back page. When?

Oh, and I noticed the ad for the fourth Communion Edition on the back page. When? It should be out this year for sure. Tim is supposed to be working on the cover.

It seems like Faust 13 just came and went without much hoopla. Everyone was so geeked for its release and then once it was out there was just silence. Weird. What does it all mean?

you gotta be kidding me....seriously.....the story's being extended even further. FUCK!!!FUCK!!!FUCK!!! Not that I don't love it, cuz I do, but it's going on what 18 years or more now since #1 came out!? Damnit. What about EO!? And, even though Tim didn't work on it...did Darkstar(s?) ever finish either. I had to stoop to buying mainstream comics because independant stuff is too UNRELIABLE. You buy something, like it, and never hear anything about it again, If it weren't for the internet I wouldn't even know Faust 13 came out...Gah. Enough rambling, even though I had to pay $10.00+ with shipping I'll be glad to have it. Just wish it was the end like was supposed to be.

Yeah...darkstar has 4 issues...I think I have them all then. I'd have to dig through serious boxes of comics to dig em out though. Maybe one day I'll get some time to do that. Thanks for the reply.

Just read 11, 12 & 13. Very good stuff overall and Tim just seems to get better and better somehow. But I DO have some issues:
Now, I happen to think and have been saying since 1988 that David Quinn is in Alan Moore's league as a writer. Simply one of the best. But 12 & 13 leave me with the distinct and unmistakable impression that the story is being 'stretched' out with filler dialog. Early issues of Faust had much less dialog but ALL of it was brilliant and had relevance to the story. 12 & 13 have a ton of totally IRRELEVANT babble with not only M but just about everyone sort of repeating the same crap. At one point I was like "OK M!!! FUCKING ENOUGH ALREADY!! WE GET IT!!". I was sincerely wishing that Claire would kill him and replace him as the uber-evil bad guy because her dialog is a lot less like 'Shakespear on Meth'.
And what the Hell is up with M's Plastic Man routine? Every couple of pages it seems he is changing forms. The demon-wings were cool and I could see this as some menacing evolution towards him becoming a sort of literal manifestation of Satan but then in the blink of an eye he is changed into Jabba the Hut, then an angel with pretty wings, then an angel without pretty wings...I mean what is the point of that?!
Don't get me wrong. The book is still a solid 8.5+ script-wise(the first issue being a '10' script-wise) but I just do not see how half of that dialog brings anything to the story.

Don't get me wrong. The book is still a solid 8.5+ script-wise(the first issue being a '10' script-wise) but I just do not see how half of that dialog brings anything to the story. Well if you read my brilliant interview you would have seen this: "Jai: So how does the story end? Tim: Well, I mean the movie somewhat explains that, but it just doesn’t end physically (?) that way. Jai: I can’t remember what happens at the end of the movie… Tim: Well there’s a baby involved, a pregnancy, and Jade thinks that it’s a way out, but it’s not. A lot of it is just playing (?) with M (them?), because anytime you…there’s a simple thing about the devil, the storyline of the devil is…the main problem with the devil is that it’s like a bad movie in the sense that “Man, he just talks too much! Fucking kill him!” Like anytime James Bond would get caught the bad guy always has to preach to him and James Bond gets away. That’s the main fallacy (?) with the devil: he just fucking talks too much! Why do you have to play at high and mighty (?)." So that explains why M is just apparently rambling on and on.

I read that before but forgot about the part where Tim is talking about M's rambling. Still doesn't really answer my contentions though. I think Faust is too good to offer such a pedestrian rationalization as "Bad guys talk a lot and M is a bad guy...". I just don't see the point of it!? Why not just cut out the vacuous dialog and end this thing already?! Not because I am anxious for us to be without Faust but simply because it detracts from an otherwise brilliant take on the classic story.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Maybe they're just trying to build up the suspense for the climactic ending.
I asked Tim what happens to Claire and he answered, "You really want to know?" thinking it would ruin it for me, but I said yes, but he still wouldn't tell me. He joked that even if he told me I'd still have to wait 2 years to read it for myself.
Anyway, point of that being that I'm sure they've got something amazing planned for #15, but they need to continue building and setting the pace for it. Of course this is all just my speculation.
