Hey Folks! If you live in the Phoenix AZ area Frazetta Comics has teamed up with the International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival this year! Frazetta Comics will be there all weekend from Oct 23-26 and with a special screening of Frazetta: Painting with Fire on the 26th. Here is a brief summery on the event... For the last half century, Frank Frazetta has dominated the world of Fantasy Art with his images of fierce warriors, helpless princesses, grotesque monsters, and fantastic creatures, all set in the most lavish landscapes. Frazetta is best known for his paintings of Robert E. Howard's quintessential sword and sorcery hero "Conan the Barbarian". Today, a Frank Frazetta painting can fetch up to $250,000 on the open market. In this documentary, director Lance Laspina lifts the curtain on an artist who has largely avoided the public eye. Painting with Fire tells of a fascinating life and what Frazetta's artwork means to future generations. The film is not only a love letter to the art form, but to the artist as well, tracing his life from his Brooklyn childhood to the present, and focusing on Frazetta's unique combination of skills and intuition. An oil painting done at the age of eight reveals Frazetta's inborn gift and footage of the 72-year-old artist painting left-handed (his right arm was incapacitated by a stroke) portrays indomitable willpower. This film is a must see for every comic book and graphic novel fan. Share an intimate moment with this artistic virtuoso as we unfold Frank Frazetta's extraordinary life story. Frazetta Comics artist Jay Fotos will be on hand with an exclusive Q&A about working the Frazetta Family and bringing to life comic books based on Frazetta's legendary art such as Death Dealer, Creatures, Dracula Meets The Wolfman, Swamp Demon, and Dark Kingdom to name a few. Plus you will get the exclusive news on next years additions such as The Silver Warrior, Combat, Neanderthal, Freedom, and Nightstaker: all based on Frank Frazetta's amazing art. Frazetta Comics will be on hand and available for purchase all weekend long, but there will be free give-a-aways for those who attend the showing of Laspina's Painting with Fire documentary! Jay Fotos will also feature a special International Horror and Sci-Fi exclusive comic called '68 for the weekend! Each issue will be signed and will carry the festival's logo are available in a limited quantity while supplies last! Check out all the info here... www.horrorscifi.com
