man!!!u guys need to relax its just art.i know some people have ideas about who does what, but in the end we are all artist who are on this thing because of our fasination with mr. vigil artwork!thats it!enjoy the art, dont rip it apart!later Exactly! Except you are still missing the fact that NO ONE RIPEED ANY ARTWORK APART! Holy fuck people, do you understand what I am saying?? It would be one thing if I or someone else came on here and said "The problem with Tim's art in general is he does *THIS* poorly..." or "Tim or does not do *THAT* well...and therefore his artwork is only average at best." or some such nonsense. NO ONE did this! We ALL seem to agree that Tim has been guilty of some inconsistency when working for major publishers with tight deadlines(and sometimes saddled with inkers whose style does not suit his pencils) but for some reason my saying this in regards to a couple Image books he did(and this only because he set the bar so high himself with his work on Faust and Gothic Nights and such) has one guy ripping me and you drawing bizarre conclusions about what I have said. If anything, pointing out when a favorite artist has done soemthing sub-par HELPS keep that artist on his toes! Can you even imagine how sorry comic book art would look right now if every artist was praised for any old crap he spit out as if it were a masterpiece?! Why would Sam Keith bother spending all those hours laboring over his pencils if he got the same praise and money with some crappy scribbles he did or some such? And NO, I did NOT say or even think that Tim has ever done "crappy scribbles" and sold it to us as great art so if you were about to hit "reply" and say otherwise, let me stop you. Again, don't read INTO what people say. Tim is my favorite artist and has been since 1986. And I have a LOT of great artists I admire, from Sienkiewicz to Zeck to Wrightson. Damn, dude...sorry you took all of this so hard. I was just making an observation and some conversation about some of your recent posts that kept pointing out poorly drawn anatomy. I never said you were "ripping apart" Tim. And I never drew any conclusions beyond the posts I was referencing. And I never questioned your loyalty as a fan. I was even thinking maybe my comments could lead to some constructive dialog about the nature of art critique and why we, as humans, prefer more realistic looking art. But I guess you just got really offended and defensive.

I pre-ordered the Dark Kingdom HC through my local comic shop. After the fiasco that happened with the "Fantastic Worlds of Frank Frazetta vol 2 HC" that I went through, I am leary about ordering those types of books when they will be shipped, handled by people who do not know or care that dropping such a HC book results in massive damage to the cover.

But I guess you just got really offended and defensive. Just be glad I deleted my original response to you and replaced it with the above. In short my issues with you Jainitai were this condescending sort of "I am an artiste!"(say that with a French accent) type comments. Just because I(for various reasons we don't need to get into) did not end up becoming a professional comic book artist does not mean I don't draw well(as per your implication) and I have never made any sort of claim that I DID draw well anyway and on top of that, this is IRRELEVANT as to the validity of my analysis of SOME of Tim's panels in a FEW Image books recently. And to top it all off you seem to agree and acknowledge that my analysis were correct anyway so why did you even start this nonsense?! I could see if I said something stupid and clueless but come on! You made it sound like anyone who was not at least drawing a small B&W book they are publishing themselves cannot say anything about art!? But my point is made so let's just move on now...

Well, if you look back at my first comment, you'll see I put in a joking/playful laughing devil flipping off smiley, like this little guy: The comment was made in jest, not seriousness. And you'll note that I admitted Tim can blow me out of the water with his drawing skills. And I admitted the foley of my ways by critiquing his art so much. So I don't see how any of this paints a picture of me as being condescending. Perhaps it's you that are reading into things and making me out to be some kind of egotistical asshole who likes to condescend others and make them feel bad because of their drawing skills (or lack thereof). That's not who I am. And you don't even know me personally. So I think it's kind of ironic that you say I'm the one reading into things. I didn't think my initial comment or subsequent comments were all that serious. In fact, I was trying to take myself LESS seriously and lighten up with my own personal critiques of Tim's work. Anyway, whatever. I guess I know not to joke around with you in the future now.

Anyway, whatever. I guess I know not to joke around with you in the future now. Don't be a child boy. I was trying to get away from this crap and NOT get into a quote-by-quote, point-for-point explanation of how I REALLY felt about your earlier nonsense and why I felt so. But these little diggs at me at the end of your above rant are pushing things. Anyone who knows me would absolutely erupt in laughter at your suggestion that humor does not go over well with me. I am someone who could(and have before) grab a microphone at some comedy club and take the stage without a routine and walk away with prize money and offers. One criticism I consistently get from people who DO know me is that I never STOP joking around and do not take things seriously enough! But yeah...you don't know me so you have to rely on your imagination I guess. Now I am going to resist the temptation to do the quoted soapbox thing I almost did. If you really do not understand what you said that was so bad then fine. Let's just drop it then and let it blow over. But don't get all snarky with me in some silly half-assed retort in so doing. Putting a smiling devil emoticon somewhere in a post does NOT absolve you from any and all rudeness or insults you make within that post kiddo.
