Hello Everyone! Jack is back this September and October and now available for order through your local stores! Coming September will be the JACK the LANTERN “HALLOWEEN EDITION” TPB, which will be a whopping 224-page book for only $17.95! It will collect the first JACK series (0-5), and the second GHOSTS series (1-3). The first series will be re-lettered with various re-mastered art pages and new cover by TIM VIGIL! Our very own Gregg (Paper dragon) will be writing the foreword. Order code is JUL09 0774Coming October: JACK the LANTERN: WAR OF THE SOUL G/N—an all-new original story that continues our saga in a singular, 80-page book for only $6.95! The book features amazingly, stunning art by Mark Kidwell (BUMP, DARK KINGDOM). This issue will feature 2-covers by Kidwell split 50/50 as well as a retailer incentive (5:1) cover by Stephen Sadowski! Order code is JUL09 0775In my opinion this is Mark’s best work to date and is a must for all fans! Its wall-to-wall action mixed with some emotionally charged sequences in a story that will forever change the Jack the Lantern universe! Here’s a new preview featuring some pencil and pencil/inked pages from WAR OF THE SOUL: www.castlerainentertainment.ca/preview.htmAgain, by helping us, please order these books through your LCS. It’s essential to the survival of future JACK books that they register solid orders for Diamond Distributors. Stay tuned! Thank you! Michael Angelos www.castlerainentertainment.ca

Hello,
Yes I am posting here(unless red Dog objects in which case he can remove my post and let me know not to do so). Will stay out of the political/religious/scientific and otherwise contentious subjects though from now on. It is just easier to communicate with the people I still talk to through the forum rather than sending PMs..
I think the re-lettered TPB is a great idea Michael. I recently bought the 'old' TPB so I could read the first series without messing up my signed and numbered comics and the one thing that drove me nuts were all of the typographical errors, sentence structure errors, etc. I almost went through the whole thing and made a detailed list of these but I figured you probably already knew about most of them so...*shrug*
I am definitely going to pester my LCS to carry this but the last time I requested they carry a certain book(Roman Morales III's 10th Muse: 800) they assured me they would but did not and I had to order the book from the company itself through their ebay store.

Hi Tony, Good to see you posting here again! The new TPB will be a much better version with the re-lettering and new edits--especially on the first six-issues. I'm going to do a quick pass over the scripts again, and change things ever so slightly, but not too much that it compromises the original script. As for the new book, please go and nag your LCS to order the book. I can't stress the importance of store support. What did you think of Mark's art?

Mark Kidwell is fast becoming another of those artists that makes me feel glad I gave up on becoming an artist myself. The inks are really nice also. If it's one thing I hate is 'scribbly' inkers(re: Klaus Jansen) which, thankfully none of the Jack books have had yet.
Did not make it to my LCS yet but sometime this week I shall.

Mark has definitely stamped his own mark (no pun intended) and style on this series.
Glad you're diggin' the work.

Went to my LCS and started up a file/subscription service because the guy working said otherwise they might not order any of the JtL books or if they did they might end up shelving them and them getting sold to someone wandering in. I am going to order at least a few(have two down now but will likely increase this) of the "War of the Soul" GNs and one of the JtL Halloween edition TPBs.

I'm glad you pointed it out to your LCS and ordered the books. Not only are you supporting me, but also the store. Thank you! It still amazes me how many shops just flip through their previews and never give something new a chance. I know times are tough right now in this fragile economy, but i still believe diversity is the key to success in this industry. Have you guys noticed how much smaller the indie section in the recent Previews was? Sad.

I noticed it. Of course part of this is due to there being far less publishers now than there was back in the 80s and early 90s but I know of a few smaller indie outfits who never see their stuff in Previews.

i think alot of the smaller indie publishers are going with "haven distributors". www.havendistro.com

Yeah I ordered two of each(Halloween Ed. TPB & War of the Soul GN) but every time I go into that place now the owner(who also does the ordering) is not there so I end up talking to a regular clerk about books they do not carry which, of course does no good.

Correct me Tony, but you do live in Washington state? If I'm right and your weary with ordering books through those guys, you should give these guys a shot: www.comicstoponline.com/locations.phpcomic-evolution.com/I'm not sure if their within a close proximity of where you live, but they do support Castle Rain books:) There's also ZANADU books: www.zanaducomics.com/

I live in Tacoma and only make it to Seattle for the big convention once a year. I think we only have two comic shops around here: Atomic Comics and Comic Book Ink. I have only been to Atomic Comics once(but have been meaning to go back and check them out more thoroughly) and so usually end up at CBI(whom I used this last time to order your books).
I have no idea what city Comic Book Evolution is even in and their entire web page fails to even say(even on the "About us" page they fail to say WE ar e a shop located in..." which is bizarre!).
