This is as far as I got with inking this piece. Bear in mind i started this LONG before Tim inked the original and you can CLEARLY see where Tim RIPPED off my STYLE on Belit's hair! doubt ill ever finish this now... anybody still interested in seeing how I would have finished this? Or is it a moot point now that Tim's finished the original?

Don't know what Tim calls this so I'm callin it "At Hell's Door". From Tim's portfolio last year. All rights remain with Tim, but as far as I'm concerned UW can yank this right off my site so eventually it'll ALL be at the RebelStudios/Dynapop site.
EDIT: image removed because it's already in the Dynapop gallery

I wonder if your version would be so kick ass that you couldn't even tell the difference between yours and Tim's.

I got a few more words of encouragement off board. twree things, though. Although i understand and am pleased with the enormous compliment you paid me, Jai, my version will NOT look exactly like Tim's. First off, what fun would that be? Second, I dont have Tim's skillz. That said, it WILL be kick ass. third: if my version does indeed kick ass, it will be in large measure because of the training I've gotten from Tim himself at shows over the last four years. I am very much his student and he has a lot to do with any success I have. He has invested many hours of his time, for free, teaching me these past years.

an example of the kind of inspiration that can fall on ya head. I was thinking about how i am gonna ink this piece today and I had to go into my pop's study for something and I saw the teeth and jaws of a hammerhead shark mounted on the wall. This shark was caught by my dad when he was about 18. before I was born. its about thirty five years old/dead.
i remembered the chain of {what ive always taken to be animal teeth} that's around Belit's waist in this drawing. Well, I've decided that not only are they teeth, but they will be shark teeth when im finished inking them.
just an example of how the process can work on a more collaborative level. Tim's always tried to teach me to think of inking as much more than reproducing pencil lines.
of course, it should be noted, there are pencillers out there that want EXACTLY what they put down and who would scream and cry if I altered anything. Thankfully I've only worked with one penciler like that so far in my career and it wasn't Tim Vigil or Jerry Beck or Kidwell.
