I curious how many people have converted to Blu-Ray.
I'm asking because it seems the newer Blu-Ray Discs have more extras than the regular DVDs. It seems that companies are trying to force consumers to buy Blu-Ray.
I hate to think that my DVDs become "8 Track". It sucks to think I have to upgrade my collection pretty soon (which I probably would not do anyway).

Yeah, unfortunately DVDs are going the way of cassette tapes(when CDs became the standard music format). Blue Ray will be the standard until the next big thing(who knows when that will happen?) and we will all have to convert to that format if we want all those fancy extras.
I am one of those guys, like you it seems, who has pout off the upgrade thus far but will make the change soon.

DVD: The Look and Sound of Good Enough. It's not really about picture or sound quality. I don't really care about that. It's just the content difference. I bought Terminator Salvation. The DVD is the theatrical cut. The Blu-Ray is the uncut/director's cut. WTF. Both disc should have the same content. It seems the Blu-Ray have more extras than the regular DVD. A lot of movies are going in that direction to force consumers to buy Blu-Ray.

Can't say I've noticed that since I've never compared the two. I suppose if that's true that is pretty lame. I guess sooner or later I will upgrade but I'm in no real rush. In a few years I guess.
First Blu-ray I'll get: Blade Runner.

First Blu-ray I'll get: Blade Runner. The only scene that was really cut out was Moon Bloodgood stripping down in the rain. I know it's a small scene (but a good one:) ) and it doesn't affect the plot. But, I like to have a movie with no cuts. Bladerunner....Why am I not surprised? You must like Battlestar Galactica.

You must like Battlestar Galactica. Actually, no. I'm not a fan of the old or the new series at all. Never liked it.

That has been the way of things from the time that Blu Ray came out. Pretty much every movie you can buy on Blu Ray has extras that are not on DVD. The Incredible Hulk for example had that alternate beginning scene with Captain America's shield in the snow.
