I finished watching House of the Devil. I can honestly say it's the best Direct to DVD at the rental stores. Considering that 90% of the new horror movies on the shelf are shitty. It pays a lot of homage to the old 80's horror movies. The the font of the title, ending of the movie credits and music score complete the look and feel of an old horror movie. Interestingly, it was also released in a nostalgic VHS Tape. This movie will interest people that like suspense thriller. So if you like Rosemary's Baby or Mephisto's Waltz, you'll love this movie. Anyways, give it a try. I give props to it because it was good movie fora a small budgeted picture. Here's a trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=71XjRbwcemQ

I had read about this flick on Fangoria a few months back. Seemed like it might be worth a spin on the ol' DVD player.
I'll check my local video rental spot tonight, actually.

I haven't been able to check out "Hardware" yet. I still plan to.
Didn't have time to go check for "House of the Devil," but I should be able to tonight.

So the lady at the video shop I rent from finally got "The House of the Devil" yesterday. I checked it out. It was OK, I liked it. It really did do a good job of looking like an old 80's style horror flick, even 70's at times. The music, hair styles, the cassette Walkmans....they did a great job on that part.
As far as the story goes, it wasn't spectacular, but it did keep my interest throughout. It had a slight twist to it as far as what they planned on doing with the main character, which was cool. Not an action fans flick for sure, but if you like suspense films, it's pretty decent. I dug it.
