Wow...Tim is really taking his painting to a whole...'nubba...lebel (only people who watch Mad TV will get that reference). But really, his painting skills have really evolved, even from the last painting stuff we saw. Those lions are amazingly rendered, but where I notice the evolution the most is in the subtle skin tones, which look like the paint was applied in transluscent layers. If you look at that knee sticking out you can see this effect. It's also evident in the thighs and stomach/ribs. Very nice work, Tim. Are you working on painting the covers for Faust 14 and 15 right now as well?

It has a more "soft" look than the usual Vigil visual.

This rules. I tried to analyze, and type a book on it, but it boils down to this: Tim is a great painter and penciller. When I paint and then draw the same thing, it looks like two different people did them. When Tim does it, you can still see his style, still read the emotions on characters faces, and still feel like the subject matter could hurt you. One copy is in color, though.
If Tim grew a second ass, I'd kiss it, too! haha (<<<<<new signature)

Like Jai I immediately noticed that knee of hers. I of course immediately thought there must be some reason she had red knees but I will leave that alone for now. The next thing I noticed was the copperish thing behind the girl with the blue-tiled/mosaic base and general architecture with seems analogous to Egyptology but set in a somewhat alien world(also note the woman's head dress and such). That cape is really nice as well.
And finally those fucking lions really kind of make you nervous. As the eye drifted down the page(using the mouse scroll bar as I am) I kind of had an "O SHIT!" moment where it was like turning in place in some busy marketplace and suddenly coming eye-to-eye with a rabid dog.
Fucking beautiful!

Frazetta doesn't even do lions this good. Blowing up the pic full screen on the 32" plasma you can see the awesome life like detail in her legs. The way her left inner thigh muscle is flexing, the detail of her left calf muscles. If Frazetta saw this he would most definitely give it a double take and give a thumbs up.

fucking wow! I haven't quite figured out what the splash is on the left of the page but I think the witch? is even scarier looking than the lions especially the way she is gazing at the viewer and that sort of Mona Lisa what the fuck is she thinking and what are her intentions look on her face. love the moon eclipse as well. The only thing that i thought was a bit lacking was the fire looks a bit lifeless to me. A big hungry colorfull blue and orange flame would look really cool imo. This is my fav painting I've seen of yours Tim, To me it's so mysterious that It it makes me wonder what the story is with the witch queen and her world. I would love to see one some day. Quote by Tim"ok yes the lions are cool but is that it? is there somehting specific you are refering to like something you tried to communicate that we're not noticing? Jeff

If Tim grew a second ass, I'd kiss it, too! haha (<<<<<new signature) I got the opposite impression. This is the first work of Tim's that I can think of that if I saw it on a random web site I don't think I would guess that It was his work. The only thing that might remind me of his style is the lamp for some reason. I think I read Tim saying one of the things he wasn't happy about his work is that it all looked like his style and especially the faces looked similiar in all the drawings/paintings. I think this is definitely a breakthrough in Tim's work and needs to go on the cover of a book or at least a comic so that he can get more notice and appreciation that he deserves. Of course a small cloth or something would have to go over a certain part of her anatomy but imo that wouldn't change the essence of the piece or compromise it to any significant degree.

i have to agree with STU about at a random glance i wouldn't have known that this was Tim's piece. i saw it only becasue i read it in the title and have seen so much of Tim's work. this one does take it to a whole new level. this would make a great Chicago print...hint hint btw...it's in June this year, not Aug.
