I like how the narrative goes beyond the borders of the painting. Where are the lions headed? To me, they seem to be protecting the female, and with the one on the right swinging, I think the threat is just off the canvas. I also don't think I have seen better flesh and fur from Tim.
However, with the overwhelming realism in this piece, I think the background could use the same treatment. If you looked at trees during even a full moon I don't think they would be so green, nor they sky so blue. I know intense color is part of the Vigil style, but a little atmospheric perspective (muted color and a softer focus) could help a lot.
