I've seen so little of his stuff, but it seems really detailed, or maybe there's something I don't know... does he draw on boards the size of a bed sheet and shrink it down to fit in a panel?

No, that dude is a bad ass artist, and a really nice guy. I had the chance to talk to him a bit once in San Diego. His work is great, Hard Boiled for example, and he also did all the conceptual art for the Matrix. He didn't get to keep much, but he showed me a cool "Baby-growing stalk" or whatever that was. He drew me some fucked up dogmouse that was farting his signature.

I don't know what his creative process is, but I do enjoy his work. I've been picking up Shaolin Cowboy whenever it comes out. Just incredible detail.

Hard Boiled. It's must read. Frank Miller writes, Geoff Darrow does all the art. It's Robocop 2 without any watering down, done right. As gory as any issue of Faust. Truly insane stuff. Darrow does prelims on regular paper, then uses a really thick vellum/tracing paper and redoes the prelim for a final image. Darrow dosen't draw comic pages, he draws each panel one at a time about 2x the size it would be on a regular original art page, then puts all the panels together by computer. He was at WW Chi last year, sitting right next to Jim Calafiore, right across the way from Alberto Ruiz. Darrow is freaking amazing.

I also have Hard Boiled and really dug it. Yes, the art is fantastic and I loved the "Blade Runner-esque" feel to it all. The only thing about it was I have to say the ending disappointed me; I thought it was a little simple for my tastes. But other than that it was about damn near as perfect as a book can get.

darrows art is hella expensive too and kind of tough to come by, i have a rough sketch of Nixon, it isnt much to look and it cost a pretty penny, but any Darrow piece is worth getting

Hard boiled was the shit. Darrows art is incredible just to stare at for a few hours and figure out everything he threw in just for the fuck of it. Even rusty and big boy were good.
shoalin cowboy - art, great. Story - uh, is thier one?
matrix comics? did he actually draw a few, i've seen trades but none of them have his name as an artist, at least not that i have noticed.

heres a sick ass darrow on ebay right now ebay item #6613253023 gawd dayimmmm... transmetropolitan by the look of it? This guy works HARD, and he's freakin' sharp. I bet if everyone else drew double size and shrank it down it would look confused or like a big grey blob... he keeps the individual parts simple to make the overall drawing complicated later -if that makes sense. I loved how he drew all that brass in hard boiled... haha hundreds of simple shells all over the place... just very cool
