So today is the day. I am curious if anyone has seen the effects of all the immigrants not showing up for work? I know we will see all the protests on tv but has it personally effected you? I was supposed to work in a different store today but was told to show up at my regular spot just in case no one shows. Guys from Brazil live next to me usually take off at 6 am for work in there trucks but they are all home now. Dunkin Donuts staff is down and the girls there wear white to show support for their friends. We have some people at work I like to call questionable when it comes to legal status but everyone(including Americans) all have to show paperwork and get checked out and if you dont have it you dont work. I have alot of foreign friends but also know foreigners cause alot of problems in my town so right now I hold no position either way on the subject. ~~~~~~~~Ted

I know I could care less If they are legal, then I don't have a problem with them at all. My problem is all of the others who come to this country and take American jobs and send are US money out of country. I saw a picture of some of these assholes protesting waving a flag around of their native land. All I can think is if you love it so much, take your ass back there.

Me, I'm all in favor of trying a year without illegal aliens.
I totally support those who come in legally and go thru the process to become citizins.

Jai's 5 second analysis: Legal = good. Illegal = bad.

sure couldn't tell any difference around Churchill Downs today. I've always been told that alot of the workers at the horse track are under the table. i understand what everyone is saying about illegals and agree for the most part but i sure would trade em for the thug wanna be's and crack heads who have no value to society that i have to put up with daily.

If that means a fine and a time limit to work with so be it. As for affecting me personally, some of my family, wifes side are from Mexico. Their point is, Hey I'm here, just let me stay and keep doing what I'm doing...that is bullshit plain and simple.

Very well put. I just wish they'd send more girls over here to work, and less dudes. I actually had a U.S. citizen working for me that had a fake greencard to pretend he was a legal immigrant (with a different name) to avoid paying child support. THAT guy should have been deported. Apparently a fake greencard with holograms was only 150.00 in 2001.

I didn't notice shit. Fuck em. It didn't impact on my life at fuckin all. I hope they do this everyday from now on.
something about coming to america makes people think they have rights. You got the right to get taxed and die. that's it.
but coming here, no matter where you're from originally, seems to make people think they have carte blanche to act like spoiled pricks.
