Jay, what will be the solicited price for DK in Previews? Any chance of dropping Tim's incentive cover to 1:10 instead of 1:25?

Jay, what will be the solicited price for DK in Previews? Any chance of dropping Tim's incentive cover to 1:10 instead of 1:25? $3.99, the 1/25 works well with the retailers, being this is a one-shot it's not popular with retailers and they are cautious on ordering...we NEED to keep the orders up, so make sure to bug your retailer.

But, If it were 1:10 I would pre-order (without thinking) 10 copies for myself and I wouldn't have to "deal" with my retailer.
Since it's a one-shot and not popular, retailers would be less cautious in ordering 10 copies to get the incentive. This would give retailers more incentives for their customers. More incentives in circulation is always good.

Jay, if we are hoping for more sales, how about the Cover C at 1:10 and a Sexy/Girlie Tim Vigil "Cover D" for 1:25? If I could get a Sexy Diva Tim Vigil incentive cover D, I would get 25 copies for myself that's for sure.

If I could get a Sexy Diva Tim Vigil incentive cover D, I would get 25 copies for myself that's for sure. "Sexy Diva"...is not what DK is about and putting out tons of variants is not my cup of tea, I feel I'm pushing it as of now...but it's a necessity now a days. "how about the Cover C at 1:10 and a Sexy/Girlie Tim Vigil "Cover D" for 1:25?"...Now that doesn't make sense, I would have to pay to print(and art) another cover and I would get the same as if I had the 1/25. Hey Bigbot, I got this really cool bridge, cheap...ya interested, I take PayPal? I kid, like I said, it's a little more involved than just putting out another cover. Working with the retailers goes hand and hand with publishing books. In a perfect world we all need guys like you that preorder the books(that's why we all beg you to preorder books), you are a VERY small percentage of the actual orders made by retailers. Incentive covers work like this, say a retailer buys 25 DK books to get his free(FREE is the key word here, FREE for them not for me) incentive cover, the retailer pays $2 a book($50 total for the 25 books), for a retailer $50 is a big chunk of change out of his monthly budget(remember he has to buy all the WWHULK books as well). The retailer might be confident that all the DK books will sell, but you never know, if he's smart he'll play it safe(ever see all those long boxes stacked up in the back of the store or in his Momma's basement, that's him not playing it safe...books he couldn't sell and stuck with)...BUT that incentive cover will catch a few bucks real quick and in some cases pay for the whole 25 DK order and more(I've seen DD books in stores for $80) and any regular(covers A&B in our case) is gravy...and if it takes a month or two to sell them it's worth it, that's why you might see new books on Ebay for $.99, the retailers made their money and just want to get rid of any back stock if it's been sitting for a while...Momma needs her basement back. There are two reasons why I choose to do alternate covers for all the Frazetta books, one, what I just said above. Two, to give the artists involved the opportunity to do a cover...and believe me I had to fight to get the Frazettas to agree to that, they only wanted Frank's art as the ONLY cover. Jay

Jay, In Frazetta's universe, the women are the most dangerous with their cunning, magic and alluring curves, openly flaunting their sexuality.
"Sexy Diva" is what Frazetta is all about.
I just don't think that your current Cover C is desirable enough.
If you don't want to put out tons of variants switch the Cover C to Cover B (A chance to have a Vigil cover at retail price would be sweet) and Change cover C to a Sexier cover (you'll get more rats if you change the cheese).
Also you don't have to give away your incentives. Some companies sell their incentives.
Incentive covers catch a few bucks quicker when they have a sexy girl on it, and even quicker when it's a sexy girl drawn by Tim Vigil.

Incentive covers catch a few bucks quicker when they have a sexy girl on it, and even quicker when it's a sexy girl drawn by Tim Vigil. As much as I want to get Tim's cover version, I can understand what Jay is saying that a "sexy diva" cover just wouldn't work with Dark Kingdom. From the pages I saw there are no sexy divas in the story...anywhere. So it just wouldn't make sense to put some random, half-naked chick on the cover. People would be like, "Huh...? This 'sexy diva' is nowhere to be found!" Then they would cry. From what I'm thinking, Tim's cover will only be in demand by the diehard Vigil fans out there, so it might make it easier for us here to snag one, whether that be through the internet or through a local dealer. I dunno. I'm not going to go crazy trying to get one. I'm just looking forward to seeing the finished product. Jay: any chance you can give us a sneak peek of a colored page?? (That is if you've even started coloring them yet).

No sexy divas in the story...anywhere? What?! F**k! Now we really need a half-naked girl on the cover to sell this book.
Let Them cry! We want Tim's cover to be really desired by New non-diehard Vigil fans. We want this book to be the best selling one-shot of 2008.
