This movie looks kind of crazy. I might have to go and check this one out. Quentin Tarantino presents Hostel.

I was looking around that site for almost half an hour and I still can't figure out what the hell the movie is about!! People paying to torture other people? Looks a little bit overly influenced by "Saw" (even though I've never seen "Saw"). I don't know. Looks like a boring, we're-trying-too-hard-to-be-shocking movie.

I personally thought Saw was terrible and the acting deteriorated as the film wore on. It got laughable really, and honestly, the title is misleading. Sans one scene towards the end, there wasn't anyone getting "sawed" up or torn apart as the title would suggest. And even that scene wasn't anything crazy, you basically get to see what was going to happen in the previews of the film. Saw was quite boring, really. So I don't know, we'll have to see what's up with the plot of Hostel (which intrigued even more because they said it was based on true events). It looks ALOT more intense than Saw to me, but we'll see. Should be out in theaters January 6th, 2006.

Saw was horrible, good premise, bad execution. Especially since the writer tried to act in it, and he made it ten times worse. The second one was a heap, but it was a less stinky heap of shit than the first.
Hostel looks ok, ellie roth, or however his damn name is spelled, anyways his first movie, cabin fever, sucked. It was totted as a great horror movie, but was a horribly acted piece of shit, the story was weak. Tarantino produces some wierd movies, they are always hit or miss. I'll probably watch hostel, but i'm not rushing.

Hadn't seen it personally, but two of my friends have and they gave it a big thumbs down shitpile. And we usually agree on flicks. Heard the same from a few others here at work.

Anyway I'm pretty sure it's not going to end up on my Top Ten list, but I just want to check it out for it's supposed "shock value." No movie in my opinon has ever lived up to the hype (last one being the French film "Irreversible." That was lame). The only thing I can honestly say that did was the novel "American Psycho." The movie was a joke, but the book was pretty damn brutal. One my favorites.

I will confirm it, this movie is big-time shit. I just got back from seeing it and I wanted to let everybody know.....don't be like me and waste your money, it's garbage just like I posted earlier in this thread. The so-called "shocks" aren't anything that hasn't been done before(fingers cut off, eyeball hanging out) and it has a lot of tits in it but all of that is just camouflage to hide the fact that all this movie is just a 90 minute waste of everybody's time. I thing of myself as a movie fan(I own a bunch) and I like a lot of things that others don't(new Star Wars, SAW, etc.) but on the shit meter I got to give this stinking pile of garbage an 18 on a scale from 1 to 10.

That's funny, Lunk. You posted before it was released that it was garbage (with a lovely pic to enhance your opinion even), and you went to go see it anyway? WTF? Maybe I'll just wait until my friend "finds" the DVD laying around later on then.

I normally take in a movie every week if I can, this was just the "best" thing there....I should have seen Chronicles of Narnia, I think I'd have been happier. I think thats the way to go, DAL has a good point it might be a little better when it hits DVD.....a little extra "eye candy" but the it will still be the same shit underneath.
