I am so glad I never got around to buying this yet. I'm in for the Triple on this.
UK- did you ever have Tim do a drawing of Maximus? I would love to see something like that.

My Verdict. It's more than worth the $25 I paid on Amazon if for no other reason than you get both the director's cut AND the extended version and new commentary by Ridley Scott and Russell "telephone" Crowe. I haven't even gotten to all the 4+ hours of special features yet. The new extended version is good, but it's not going to change your opinion of the film. You get more in depth into characters, you really see the villiany and cruelty and cowardice of Commodus as his character develops. You see the honor, heroism and sacrifice of Maximus' character in transition through triumph, sorrow and ultimate self-sacrifice and retribution. You even get deeper into the characters like Juba and the big German gladiator guy. If you are a bigtime fan of this film and most importantly, what it stands for, you'll want this edition. Especially at Amazon's price. But if you liked this movie, enjoy it and watch it from time to time for its superficial entertainment value, this isn't a neccessary purchase. I rate it four headbangers and two cool guys: More about Sven Ole Thossen's character?Tigurius (sp?) or just about how Sven wanted the role so bad for so long?

BTW: that tattoo ain't a Russel Crowe tattoo... I didn't think it was man. I was being facetious with my Harrison Ford comment.
