Is anyone from here going to be crazy and see this tonight at midnight? I thought about doing it, but then I was like, "Nah, I'm not THAT into Batman!" I'm even still unsure if I want to see it at the theater. I just kind of feel like, "Meh, whatever" about it. I know there's all the buzz about Ledger's performance as the Joker and whatnot, but I don't know. I'm just not all that excited about this film.

I don't go to movies on Friday night because i'd end up killing a motherfucker, but me and my pops are taking our old asses to the first showing Saturday morning. It looks bad ass to me, and other than some of the worst fight choreography in movie history, I loved Batman Begins.

enjoyed the hell out of it. I know everybody's all gaga over Ledger's Joker (and he did a great job. I can't argue that), but I was really a lot more interested in the Dent/Two-Face storyarc. I really enjoyed getting to see that whole thing play out. thought the ending was way too abrupt, though. I felt like we should've seen more Two-Face.
damn good movie. excellent continuation from BB.

let's make the 2 votes....this one KICKS ASS. Ledger does make a great new twist to the Joker ( too bad they won't be able to make a second with him) but the Dent/Two Face story is just as interesting. not gonna say more interesting as Grimm because i think it was the way the 2 stories twisted around each other that made his part great.....and oh man what a great face.
DAL
nothing after the credits....
also did anyone else get to see the preview of th coming new Terminator with Bale in it

Alrighty, I just got back from the theater and my six hour, movie marathon! (Yes, I'm a little obsessive compulsive). I went to see Hellboy 2 first and then followed it up with the 10:30pm showing of The Dark Knight (it's now 1:43am and I just got home shortly ago).
Anyway, as it's late I'm not going to give a whole in depth review here, but I just thought I'd say that I wasn't disappointed in going to see The Dark Knight at the theater. There were a couple parts that kind of bothered me, but since not everyone has seen it yet I'll wait to get too deep into it.
And just for the record, all the hype about Ledger's performance was well deserved. He did an amazing job. It's such a shame that he's not around to see everyone's reception to his work.
I also have to agree with Grimm that the movie seemed to end rather abruptly.
On the Jai-o-meter I give the overall movie an 8 out of 10.
PS - UK, now I understand why you didn't want to go see this on a Friday night! Holy Bujeesus! All of the showings were sold out. Fortunately I had gotten my ticket early when I bought my ticket for Hellboy. That theater was packed to the gills. And I had some dude behind me that kept breathing really, fuck'in heavy, like I was in a wind tunnel or something. I kept feeling hot, stinky air blowing on the back of my head and neck. And it wasn't like jacking off heavy breathing, but more like fat dude who can't breathe kind of heavy breathing. And his breath stank like half digested hot dogs and hard liquor. At one point I thought I was going to puke. But I persevered and learned my lesson to never see movies on opening night.
PPS - Yes Mike, I saw the trailer for Terminator Salvation. Can't really tell from the preview much about it. Personally I think Terminator should have stopped after the second one. Oh yeah, and I saw the trailer for the Watchmen. Seeing it on the big screen made me even more excited to see it! I heard the guy next to me say to his friend, "I don't even know what that's all about, but that preview sold me on it!"

Here's the review I hate to write...
Because Heath Ledger was an awesome, disturbing-ass Joker. That character was actually creepy to me for the first time ever. Or for the first time since Arkham Asylum anyway.
And they had 3/4 of a great movie -it had some problems, but it was still great.
Then the director took The Dark Knight and commited suicide with it. They suicided a great movie... it makes it hard to remember what was so great about a movie when they dick up the ending.
You have to suspend disbelief in most action movies, and even more with comic book movies, and I'm willing to suspend mine further than most. But there were some real head-shakingly bad scenes in this fucker. And Batman's voice? WTF? It was like the big, black werewolf in Underworld. I had to keep from laughing. Sounded like his tongue was stuck to the roof of his mouth.
I won't go into details because I know not everybody has seen it. But it destroyed what had been the best Batman movie EVER for me at the end.
I can't recommend it. I still can't believe I had to write that, through most of the movie I expected to be sitting here right now writing about how great it was. It was acted well all around. It was the director that fucked it up.
so fuckin sad.

Another thing I hated was that all of us in the audience and all the actors in the movie had to act like that bitch playing Rachel Dawes is a beautiful woman? WTF? Looked like she had a mild form of that elephant man disease. Facial features ALL out of wack, nose looking like of those bound up Chinese feet from back in the day. Face like a shovel on that girl, mang.

They both have faces like a bouquet of assholes.

Goddam...other people that agree with me that Maggie Gyllenhal (sp?) isn't attractive! I can't understand why everyone puts her in some kind of sex symbol position. Maybe it's because she did that film "Secretary", but I don't know man. Even my wife thinks she's attractive and I'm like, "Are you serious?!" But I'm glad to know there are other people out there that thinks she's creepy looking. I don't feel so alone anymore.
